We had a great time working with our outside editor on selecting the 2009 Honeymoon Story winner. We can't believe how many amazing writers we have as Members! We'll have more information on the winner once we finalize details with them.
In the meantime, read our 2008 Honeymoon Story winner...it makes me want to jump on a plane to Sicily and spend time with Rob's two elderly cousins!

February launches our first ever Registry Center partnership with Brides.com. We are excited to be joining such a well known wedding website that counts Macys and Williams-Sonoma as its other registry partners.
We hope Brides.com will help us reach engaged couples that haven't been exposed to the honeymoon registry. Check out our ads and the Brides.com Wedding Registry Center and let us know what you think!

If you are already using Traveler's Joy, you probably knew this. If you are unsure about including Traveler's Joy as your wedding registry, let this article convince you! The study is full of interesting conclusions with this being my favorite:
"While most people were generally happy with the purchase regardless of what it was, those who wrote about experiences tended to show a higher satisfaction at the time and after the experience had passed."
So I guess it's fair to conclude that the satisfaction someone receives from a new kitchen dish is short lived compared to a honeymoon experience they can share with their family and friends for the rest of their life. This being said, register your honeymoon!

We had a great response rate from the survey we administered in January to Members with honeymoons in 2009. I thought you might like to see some of the results.
-62% report that they plan to spend less on their honeymoon than originally intended due to the current economic downturn
-50% report that the current economic climate changed increased their preference for a honeymoon or experience wedding registry
-38% report that the current economic climate has increased their interest level in using Traveler’s Joy
-20% have had to delay their honeymoon departure date due to the current economic climate
The surveyed couples noted many ways in which they plan to decrease costs, including staying closer to home, redeeming loyalty rewards for free airline tickets and hotel stays, taking advantage of travel discounts many hotels are offering, and cutting out some of the luxury extras like spa treatments and excursions.
For more information on the survey, please contact us. We are looking at a great year for breaking monthly new Member records so thank you to everyone for using Traveler's Joy to go on their dream honeymoon!

American Public Media's Marketplace (on National Public Radio) recently reported on how high end retailers are battling lifestyle wedding registries. Only five years ago, the registry marketplace only had a half dozen brick and mortar retailers. Thing have certainly changed since then!
Wedding registries are becoming one other way for couples to express who they are and their lifestyle. Traveler's Joy believes a honeymoon registry speaks a millions words about how a couple is looking forward to exploring new places and experiences together.
